SITE: Des Moines, Iowa - Iowa Events Center - Hyvee Hall

CUT-OFF: We can only accept the first 1500 High School wrestlers, first 1500 8th grade and below wrestlers, first 500 Girl wrestlers and first 400 Open Wrestlers.  This tournament sold out LAST YEAR.  Make sure you don’t miss out and register ASAP.


RULES: Modified National Federation Rules—Folkstyle   Due to time constraints, we will NOT be using the "new" overtime rules implemented for High Schools in the 2006-07 season. Any matches that go into overtime will use the "old" rules: 1 minute sudden death overtime, if no score, followed by tiebreaker ride out (first to score in regulation gets choice)

MATCH LENGTH:  High School Divisions  2 - 1 - 1 on Championship side and medal matches.  Consolation matches will be  1 - 1 - 1

8th Grade and Below Divisions 1 1/2 -1-1 on Championship side and medal matches.  Consolation matches will be  1 - 1 - 1

Open Divisions 2 - 1 - 1 on Championship side and medal matches.  Consolation matches will be  1 - 1 - 1

Mouthguard: Mouthguards are NOT mandatory (this includes individuals with braces).

GIRLS SINGLET: Girls MUST wear a Women’s Cut Singlet.

REST TIME: The minimum rest time between matches is 15 minutes.

HEADGEAR: Headgear IS required except for the Open Divisions.

AWARDS:  Attractive Awards will be handed out.

                 High School Divisions- 1st - 8th Place

                  8th grade and below Divisions - 1st - 8th Place

                 Open Divisions - 1st - 6th Place

FORMAT: Double Elimination –  Will wrestle to top 8 in the High School divisions and 8th Grade and below divisions.  Will wrestle to top 6 in the Open Divisions.  Referees decision final.

REGISTRATION OPENS: July 1st, 2019

REGISTRATION CLOSES: October 20th at Midnight EST

REGISTRATION FEE:  $60.00 To be paid online when you register. (Same as last year)

WALK– INS: If a Wrestler does not register before the October 20th deadline, he / she may walk-in at the weigh-ins. The cost for Walk-ins is $100.00 to be paid at Weigh-ins.  

CHANGING WEIGHT CLASSES:   We are no longer charging to change a weight class.  You may change a weight class online anytime before the registration deadline.  After the registration deadline you can only change a weight class at the weigh-ins.  If you do not know how to change a weight class you can just email the tournament director (Brian Keck) and he will make the change for you.  Info@PreseasonNationals.com 

USA WRESTLING CARD All Wrestlers MUST have a USA Wrestling Card.  You must purchase your USA Wrestling Card before the tournament.  You CANNOT purchase your USA Wrestling Card at the event.

COACHES: Only two coaches allowed per wrestler during the match. Coach must have a coaching band to be in the coaching chairs in his/her wrestlers corner.  An official will issue a warning to any coach who is out of line or who acts inappropriate. The band will then be black marked. Any further inappropriate action will cause for removal of band and coaching privileges for the remainder of the tournament.

FOOD BROUGHT IN ARENA - Wrestler will be allowed to bring in drinks and snacks.  Parents will NOT be permitted to bring in any food.  NO COOLERS ALLOWED.

This is a GRADE tournament.  You MUST register your wrestler for the grade they are in during the 2019– 20 school year.  We do have max ages a wrestler can be in each grade division.  If a wrestler is too old for a grade division they MUST move up to the next grade division.
